With so many different campaigns going to save shows recently it could almost be a weekly feature here, and here is yet another for you to consider. I bring this one up partly out of a selfish desire to see it succeed, because The Dresden Files has become my second favorite Sci Fi Original, but also because I think it actually has a shot at working. There is a bunch of helpful info over at the group's main site. They have a letter writing campaign where if you email your letter to Dresden fan Belynda she will print it out and mail it for you, email and phone contact info for Sci Fi, links to a petition, and a host of other options for you to help out.
If you just happened to miss the show when it originally aired you can get all 12 of the episodes through iTunes and there is a nice selection of behind the scenes stuff over at the official Dresden site on scifi.com. The first, hopefully of many, season DVD set is scheduled to be released next month as well.

Just a heads up. This TV series is based on NYT best-selling author - Jim Butcher. I have read all Dresden books. Love 'em. This series captures the spriit of the books quite well. I recommend it.

For some reason I thought this series was being renewed. Now I have to read this! Funny I was thinking of getting the first season on DVD but now I do not think I will. I'm getting sick of the network pulling the 1 and done thing and then release the series on DVD.

Thanks Brett! Dresden Files is such a fantastic show! It's original - not a cookie-cutter copy like so many others. Plus, you don't have to turn off your intelligence just to watch it, either! Let's hope TPTB realize what a gem they have. :)

Thanks for putting this out there! I didn't catch the Dresden Files when it aired, but all the fan stuff I've seen online have convinced me that this is a show I need to see!
I would like it if there was a weekly "Save This Show" feature here at TV Squad. Small, but beloved, shows need all the help they can get until networks realize that when it comes to viewers, it's quality, not quantity, that they want.

When did SciFi announce that they were cancelling the series? I must have missed that....

SciFi won't say *anything* and rumors abound. Mostly bad rumors. We know contracts are up. If they don't move soon, they will lose the great chemistry they have between actors if they DO pull it out at the end and renew. People have to eat.

I applaud your selfish desires, sir. This was a pretty thin TV season, and The Dresden Files was the major stand-out for me -- love Paul Blackthorne and Terrence Mann, such an intriguing setting in an underworld of shadowy figures, and so many places to go story-wise. I am so hoping they give this one a shot. Yeah, I'm buying the DVD.

It's too bad someone can't figure out a good way to finance new episodes and/or new shows through the fans via some sort of subscription basis. Say $0.50 or $1 per episode for the subscription. Advertisers might even find a more brand-loyal consumer if combined with the right type of promotion.

I felt the same as Paul. I thought the show ran through its episodes and was shooting more for another season. I didn't hear anything about ratings or contracts during its run or after.

To all those who appreciate a new perspective on life Who want to believe that one person can make a difference Who want to go to work on Monday and feel good about Closing Cases Who see all the pain, anger, and hopelessness that is constantly washing over us all and yearn to hear these words shouted out, Not On My Watch and You Shall Not Pass: I say, It Is Never Too Late!! Stand fast, stand together, and believe that you can make a difference. Even if all you do is go to work in your bathrobe, because your pet is using your good robes as a bed. What the eyes sees may be, but what the the heart believes trandsends. That is the magic of Harry; not that he has power, but that he uses all that he has to help people, because he needs to. I want that feeling. Magic is as magic does. If you want The Dresden Files in your life, you make it so.

Thanks for the mention Brett. I don't know why Sci-Fi wouldn't pick it up unless they are dead broke. Guess that is a reason I could understand. Test drive a nice new car, then realize if you want to keep the roof over your head that you can't afford it even though a reliable car could get you to that new job which pays soooo much more..oh heckhounds I'll but that car.

After giving Painkiller Jane a full 20 episode first season (and it so didn't deserve it), the least Scifi could do is give Dresden Files a short second season.

Seems once again that the SciFi channel is proving to be the dumbest channel on all of cable. I fell in love with the Dresden Files and all the people who act in it, especially Mr. Dresden, himself. All he has to do is smile, and the whole episode is worth watching. Viewers should start boycotting SciFi, especially now that Monk and Psych are coming back to USA, and Burn Notice is doing so well. Shame on you, SciFi. P.S. Stop making so many stupid crocodile and vampire movies that you have been showing. They all stink and are a waste of our time. Smarten up!

Thanks for putting the word out about this great show. It's easily one of Sci-Fi's best original shows. Good plots, snappy dialog, fun characters (Especially Bob!), good acting-- it's hard to believe there's even a question about renewing it. I'm glad they're putting out a DVD set. I'd be even happier if they were showing reruns and renewing for future seasons.
Folks, keep spreading the word, and maybe Sci-Fi will get the message.

I've written letters, emailed and signed petitions for the renewal of Dresden Files.
I surfed into an episode mid-season and was hooked from then on. I purchased all 12 episodes from iTunes so I could catch up - I guess that probably means I surfed into it late in its season. I liked just about everything about the show - the characters and their interactions, the humor, the special effects, the plots, the editing, Bob....
I just want to be able to see more of the same.
